It had been a rough week for Jasmine.
All in one week, so many things had happened. Her powers had been made aware of by a fellow mutant, and brought to the attention of the public. With all the trouble with mutants lately, one would think that something like this wouldn't be alltogether very horrible. Mutants these days were feared, yes, but in a way respected. Jasmine's story was different because her parents were pro-humans, one could say. Since she discovered her astounding gift, she did her very best to keep ita secret from everyone- especially her family. She had become seperated from everyone close to her.
So then her family had been told by a fellow mutant, and her life was shattered. Her family looked upon her as some sort of disease, some phenomenon that needed to be dealt with as soon as possible. Now it was a week after her secrets had been uncovered, and she was standing outside the school for people such as herself.
She shared an uncomfortable hug with her mother, her father, and waved to her siblings. She didn't have to pretend to be happy with this. As soon as they could, her family drove off ( a little faster than necissary), leaving Jasmine behind. After a trip to the office for directions to her dorm, she headed off up the stairs. Luckily, class was in session, so she didn;t have to mingle.
Soon all of her things were put away neatly, her bed all nice and made, everything in it's place. The girl who she was sharing a room with looked nice enough- judging by the items that belonged to her. Finally she left the dorm for the hall-way, when the bell rang. It seemed like a matter of seconds before people were there, talking and laughing noisily. Never had Jasmine felt like such an outcast.

As the bell rang, the door to the room next to hers opened, revealing a skinny boy with gelled-down black hair and skin-tight jeans and a studded belt that was undone. His zip-up sweatshirt was twisted to the side and wrinkled as if he'd slept in it. He yawned and glanced around the students milling past, eyes finally landing on Jasmine with a smirk. "You know what time it is?"

The terrible confusion of the halls was merely a blur to Jasmine. Everything seemed to stop moving when some guy with black hair, all greased down, and messily dressed, asked her for the time. She paused time as she thought of how to answer. Everyone looked slightly silly when paused, Jasmine thought, but she didn't really even notice them anymore. She stared at the boy for a moment, shrugged, and then walked down the hall to go find a clock of some sort. She walked into someone's room, where some fat kid stood picking at his underwear.
She grimanced, "ew." Luckily the boy had a watch, which she peeked on, and then returned to her spot and took up her former pose. She unpaused the time, returned his smirk and then replied, "it is 3:45." What else could she say?

He looked slightly pleased and nodded his thanks. "I'm up early today. Sweet!" Deciding that this conversation would be better if there weren't crowds of people getting between them, he sped up with an audible clicking noise, then walked over to her other side and slowed back down. To her, it would appear that he teleported.
"So who're you? New kid?" he presumed. He barely knew anyone at the school, but she had that new kid look.

She blinked, and he had moved from in front of her (with the few people sifting between) to her side. All she had heard was some sort of clicking sound. How odd. She then remembered that everyone here had some sort of powers, so she should be wary. She had no idea of what other mutants were capable of, other than the ones she had heard on the news. They all were usually portrayed as evil, and Jamsine didn't see herself as an evil person. Jasmine didn't see herself as an angel, either, though. She didn't really know what to think of herself lately- being the mutant that she was.
She looked at him, raised her right eyebrow, and then lowered it again. "I'm Jasmine- the new kid. And you are?" She shifted her position so that her arms were crossed in a relaxed way (old habit), and stared into his eyes- her own green eyes moist with the stress of the day.

He crossed his arms in return, mocking anger sarcastically. "The old new kid. You stole my title." Tyler feigned insult for a moment, then a grin cracked through his expression and he gave up the act and extended his hand, a "D" tattooed on his ring finger knuckled and an "O" on the middle, spelling out "DO". On his left hand knuckles was the accompanying "ME". It had seemed much funnier when he got it done, barely sober at four in the morning.
"I'm Tyler. Or Click. Whatever."

The new girl smiled back at him, her pearly whites gleaming in her pretty pose. She glanced at his hand, seeing some sort of lettering on his knuckles, and then set her tiny palm nto his, giving it only the slightest squeeze. She didn't like hurting people when she shook their hand- it was un-ladylike. She let go of his hand and returned it to it's place in her crossed-arms look. "Nice to meet you Tyler. Sorry for stealing your title, but it's what I do!" She shrugged and smiled, glancing from her shoes to his eyes. She was always the shy one, never able to look at someone for more than a moment. She thought staring was rude, so now if she felt like staring she could pause time and stare as long as she wanted.
"Click, huh? So why do you make that sound when you... um... move? Bad cartalege?" She smirked, and then blushed at her lame attempt at humor. Wow Jasmine. You are soo stupid, she said to herself. She contemplated just pausing time and going somewhere else- like Canada.

"I speed up my molecules," he explained, "Go speedy fast. I guess it just makes that noise when I do it 'cause my powers are screwing with stuff." He leaned against her door frame casually. "What about you? What do you do?"
His tongue played with his lip ring absently and he tucked his hands into the pockets of his hoodie.

Not knowing the answer to his question, she decided to ignore it. Well, she knew the answer, but couldn't possibly explain it. She couldn't even explain it to herself. Somehow just saying, 'I pause time' wasn't a good enough explination. If she were to show him, it would just look like she teleported. She cleared her throat and replied, "when did you discover your powers?"
It wasn't that good of a conversation continuer, but it was all she could think of in such a short amount of time. Maybe she should have paused and had a brainstorm about it. Oh well, can't turn back time, can you? Maybe someone out there could. That would be cool.

He didn't think about that. Still grinning, he shrugged. "I donno. A while ago, probably the same age as most people." Tyler studied her. She had that tentative fear lingering about her. He liked analyzing people and he knew the look she had. "I'm guessing you just got yours?"

She looked up at him, a sad smile on her face. She really couldn't remember the exact date, since to her that whole second had lasted over the equivalent of three days. She rubbed her arm and turned to watch the people walk by as she answered, "yeah. I still don't know what to think about it. I think it was a couple weeks ago, but I'm not sure." She looked at him, her eyes filled with a sence of lost-ness. She certainly did feel lost. Lost and confused and left behind.
"Why? Do I look like some scared little kid?" She smiled and glanced up to his eyes again before diverting them to the floor.

His grin faded into a kind smile and he leaned in toward her, head cocked to the side in an attempt to catch her eyes. "You look like you worry too much," Tyler told her, trying to be comforting, "Trust me. Just loosen up and you'll do fine." Never one to understand personal space bubbles, much less observe them, he reached out and patted her cheek lightly.

The poor girls face reddened as the boy leaned in towards her. He was pretty, she coudln't deny that. Feeling how hot her face had gotten, she paused time until her face was back to normal. It was slightly uncomfortable standing there whilst the guy leaned in with that smile. Was very awkward for Jasmine. She stared deep into his eyes, admiring their color, while she unpaused time and he continued talking.
Having had time to think of a good response, she smiled a little and shrugged, "I'll try." It wasn't that good, but much better than for her to attempt flirting or something silly like that. She was new, and new people shouldn't spend their firs moments in a new school flirting with boys they don't know.

Tyler straightened up and nodded. "You unpacked yet?" he asked, glancing into her room for any bags. Flicking at the tongue ring, his eyes flitted back to her, expression bright as usual, plus a little extra happiness from gaining a new friend. Or, at least he was sure that they were going to be very good friends. Everyone he met was an inevitable friend in his book.

"Yeah, I unpacked. Didn't take me long," she said with a quirky smile on her face. She rubbed her arm and looked into her room to see if her roomate was in there yet. She didn't appear to be, but for all Jasmine knew the girl could be invisible. That would be pretty ironic, no? She bit her lip, resisting the urge to giggle at her own thoughts. She paused time, went into her room, sat upon her bed, and then unpaused time.
After a pause she said, "this one's my bed." She glanced from his eyes to her hands which were nestled nicely on her lap.
