Dressed in her bathing suit, Pandora nervously entered the pool. Her two piece bathing suit revealed a bit of skin, and that made her nervous. Do I look fat? she thought to herself. Should I be wearing this? She knew her conservative parents wouldn't approve. They were dead now, and she hated going against their wishes. However, she had to live her life.

Tyler was already sitting by the shallow end of the pool, feet dangling in the water. His roommate's baggy swim trunks were too large, hanging down past his knees and disproportionately sinched at the waist. He was skinny, some muscle on top of it all, but looking too thin none the less. The lack of shirt also exposed a nipple ring, a tattoo of a purple oriental dragon wrapped around his left bicep and a black-and-white tattoo of a gun on his abdomen, positioned so that the nose was below his waistline and the handle poked up over. There was a tattoo on his right calf, distorted by the water.
"Hey," he greeted, looking up at her with a grin, "C'mon, it's warm." He slid off of the edge of the pool to stand waist-deep in the water.

Meekly, she made her way towards the pool. She carefully put her feet into the water, testing its warmth and texture. Slowly, she climbed down the steps and entered the shallow end of the pool. She didn't like the idea of just climbing into the water. It was better to test it out first and then walk into it. That's how she always did it at the pools in her town.
"You're right, it is warm," she replied. She smiled at him.

Looking her over with a smirk, he wondered vaguely how this might end up. His imagination offered a few good suggestions, but he pushed that thought away.
"You any good at swimming?" he asked, backing toward the deeper end, facing her. He hadn't gotten much practice, but he had the general idea. Tyler's foot met with a steep downward slope and he slid down to chest-level.
((OOC: Hey I'll be gone for a few days. The BF surprised me with a trip to Cali. Score for no more cold, huh?))

(( Sounds like fun! ))
"Actually, I'm not really that good. I mean, I can float and everything, but I'm not really that great." That was part of the reason why she had gotten in the pool so slowly. The truth was that she wasn't a very good swimmer and going to the deep end made her feel a little uncomfortable. She didn't really know why she couldn't swim, but it was something that was with her all her life. Slowly, she made her way to the deep end. She tried to do a doggy paddle. She felt kind of pathetic.

Tyler let out a good-natured laugh, one that could never be taken as cruel. He slid toward her in the water. "Here, lemme help you. You're just trying to hard," he told her. "Relax."
One hand moved down to her waist to keep her up and another took her forearm, tugging her a little deeper. "Try kicking your legs real slow, alright? You don't have to beat the water up."

She blushed. She was rather embarrassed at her swimming. It didn't usually come up, so she could usually hide her flaw. But at least Tyler was very kind about it.
Pandora slowed the kicking of her feet. Though she was no champion swimmer, it did help a little bit. She smiled at him. "Thanks."

Smirking at her, he started to pull away, treading water and keeping his hands high enough in the water that she could see and emulate how he was moving them. The tattoos on his middle and ring knuckles ("DO" on his right and "ME" on his left) blurred and unblurred as water ran over them.
"So you cut class a lot or just when you won't get caught?" he asked, voice a bit teasing.

"Well, technically it's not cutting class. Just delaying it, really." She smirked. Meek little Pandora usually wasn't brave enough to ditch (or "delay") class, but somehow this new person gave her some newfound courage that she didn't know she had. Though she had her principles, she did find it difficult to resist peer pressure.

"So if I slowed us back down right now, you'd run off to class?" Tyler asked her curiously, cocking his head to the side with a playful expression on his face.
He liked that she was having fun and more than that, he liked that it was because of him. In his mind, he'd saved her. Boredom was the worst thing he could imagine (literally, he was incapable of thinking of anything worse) and he'd saved her from it.

"Well ... I'd guess I'd have to." She didn't like disappointing people, but at the same time, she didn't want to miss any class. She was a diligent student, and her grades were important to her. In addition, she hated getting in trouble. Pandora was a shy girl and loathed having to face authority figures.

Shrugging slightly, Tyler glided toward her in the water. "Well, you wouldn't have to. You'd just want to. You'd have a choice." He wondered what it would take to loosen her up, to make Pandora choose fun and him given the right situation. It was a challenge and he was eager to start in on it.

She blushed. "To tell you the truth, I'm not really much of a rebel. I get butterflies in her stomach every time I'm five minutes late to class. It's kind of pathetic, really. I wish I was more brave sometimes." Pandora may have been a X-men, but she was no Wonder Woman. She wasn't exactly blessed with nerves of steel.

He smirked mischieviously and reached out to touch her hair gently. "Trust me, there are scarier things than getting yelled at. It's just a matter of whether letting something scare you is gonna be fun or not. Roller coasters- fun. Lectures- not so fun." He twisted a blond piece around his finger.
"I don't think you're pathetic. You just know what you wanna put up with."

She felt her face turn warm. There she was, in her swimsuit with a shirtless young man she had just met while he twirled her hair in with his finger. Although that may not have meant much to some people, it certainly meant something to her. Her natural shyness prevented her from approaching boys.
"I wish I could be as brave as you."
