A large, elderly van, with a trailer pulling a small sports bike behind it, ambled up to the front gate. The tires crunched noisily on the path. The windows weren’t tinted, and a few dogs could be seen eagerly peering patiently out. Also a young woman sitting in the driver’s seat could be seen. The window on the driver’s side rolled down grudgingly, one could see the woman rolling it down manually. The woman then leaned haphazardly out of the window to press the intercom button. A dog barked impatiently, seeing the window down though that was all the action from the awaiting canines.
“Hello. I’m here to see the headmaster.” The woman said into the voice box while pressing the button simultaneously. She released it after she had finished, and leaned back into the van. Then, remembering something else, she leaned out quickly and pushed the button again.
“OR headmistress.” She added, and then leaned once again, back into the van, finished with her comments to the intercom box. A short reply was made from the magical box, and soon after the gates swung open. The woman hastily rolled the ageing window, hoping to get it up in time to make it through the gates. Once the gate was fully opened, the van clunked into gear and hobbled on through, picking up a bit of speed after entering. Carefully managed lawns spread before here on either side of the road leading up to the large mansion/school/secret lair for mutants. The drive was short, and the van slowed as the main entrance approached. She braked, and put the sighing van in park, then killed the engine. Putting a hand on the door handle hesitantly, she leaned toward the exit door, but kept her eyes on the large doors leading into the building, uncertain whether someone was going to come meet her, or if she needed to invite herself inside. She hunched there awkwardly, ignoring whatever odd stares her and her parade of vehicles might get as she waited a few more moments.

"Yo," said a mysterious voice from the flower bushes near to where the woman was standing awkwardly. There was no human form in the flower area, no person hiding amongst them. Well, not human in form anyway. Darren was in the flower bushes, as a slightly bigger flower with bright yellow petals. "Whatcha doing here?" the flower said, a face appearing in the middle of it, a childish face with really dark circles around the eyes. A curious expression was on Darren's face, he wasn't expecting visitors.
Well, not that much, anyway, at least not during his undeserved nap. A warning bell went off in his head, realizing he was still a flower, and he sneezed, turning into a human...with one exception. In his hair's place, there was a mop of yellow petals- the transformation had not been completely. "Curses," he cursed, sneezing again as his hair turned into normal, human, and brown, curly hair. Now he looked like any other normal kid- except for the dark black circles that were still around his eyes.
Darren was sitting cross-legged in the flowers, sneezing slightly after being exposed to so much pollen. He got up, brushing himself off as he walked towards the woman. Darren held out his hand to the woman stating with a laugh, "Well, intercom nerd oughta trust you since you made it past the gate, I see. By the way, name's Darren, what about you?"
He didn't care that he had just shown his mutant nature to a possible human or mutant enemy. If they "cured" him or anything, it would just make his life easier by this point. Besides, he just generally didn't care what people thought of him...well...mostly. Darren waited for her response, his fingers ready to snap back in case she didn't take his handshake. He looked at the vehicles while his hand was out, raising a curious eyebrow but saying nothing about the strange vehicles all together that were probably the female guest's. That is, unless someone in the institute had recently bought a van, trailer, and a sports bike, which he doubted.

The woman turned her head toward the voice, and showed mild surprise on her face when all she saw was a flower with a boy’s face on it. Her pulsed spiked as she worried for the mutant showing himself. They must be safe here. She thought, and her pulse returned to the normal. A crooked smile curved a corner of her lips up as she watched the boy’s antics. From inconspicuous flower, to a boy-flower from the Wizard of Oz, to flower-boy, to boy sitting in a flower patch. When he sneezed, it was too much for her, and she laughed heartily aloud. When she was finished, a warm and friendly smile was left as he approached her. A large shepherd, almost the size of a Dane, jumped up into the driver’s seat, staring quietly at the male as he approached his master. Watching. The woman hadn’t noticed the shepherd looming behind her in the closed up van, and she reached out, and firmly shook the guy’s hand in front of her.
“Ha! What a welcoming committee!” She said, chuckling quietly.
“Twilight. Just. Twilight.” She introduced herself, giving emphasis on the word ‘just’. That was all she answered to anymore. People around her soon learned that. She retracted her hand, and stood there, her posture relaxed. Twilight looked around, taking in the sights, still wondering in the back of her mind were she could talk to the one in charge here.

Darren couldn't help but laugh when she did, finding his own antics funny. His handshake was firm, although gentle in some ways. Darren's hands were skinny, almost bone-like in the fingers, giving him a deceptive edge when it came to people guessing how strong his handshakes were. He didn't notice the dog in the van, too focused on presenting himself to be at least half sane. Darren gave a shrug at her comment about the welcoming committee, saying with a mischievous wink, "Thanks, be glad you didn't meet Hart A. Tack, if you get my meaning." He couldn't help but give a dark chuckle, retracting his own hand and putting it in his pocket.
Meanwhile, the light of the sun, despite it's lightening effects on his skin, made the darkness around his eyes seem even darker. Darren looked like a ghoul, a human ghoul who just so happened to be a mutant and and avid "fun guy". He nodded at her name, asking, "N'kay then, Twilight, you looking to visit someone here?" Having been here a while, Darren could probably find who she was looking for. Besides, he knew most of the people here- although not really in a good way. Darren had pranked them, probably.

Twilight felt his thin hand carefully in the short time they touched. Touch was something quite sacred to Twilight. As they stood there, Twi noticed for the first time how warm the sun was. With the warm sun shining down, her arms started to get a bit too warm. She crossed her arms over her chest, hugging herself, and guarding her arms from the potentially harmful sun. Smiling at the pun he made about a name, Twilight glanced out away from the man, but then turned to study him even more. Twilight had a habit of weirding people out with her detailed observations of people. The sun seemed to have a very odd effect on the boy’s skin. Twi had to resist the urge to reach out and grab his arm for closer inspection. Though she did lead closer a fraction, looking at the gray skin around his eyes. It certainly will be interesting if I get to stay here. With her thoughts, Twilight almost missed the question directed at her.
“Oh, hum, What?” Twilight recovered quickly.
“Ah, ha, No. I don’t know anyone here. Except you I guess...” The woman trailed off. Her green eyes were deep in thought now.

When Francesca had heard about the newest arrival to the school, she was in the middle of a meeting. The heads of the RE administrative team assigned to Xavier's school were discussing the design of the new school uniforms. Francesca wanted classy uniforms, something that would be both stylish and modest. Most of the eggheads at her company wanted to give them grey t-shirts with the letters "RE" on them. It would probably be a good intimidation tactic, but she couldn't let them ruin the name of Rivera like that. She had lot more dignity than that.
Suddenly, she got a message from her secretary that there was a new arrival at the front gates asking for the headmistress and that Storm was nowhere to be found, leaving the matter in her hands. Annoyed at the interruption, Francesca reluctantly left her meeting and traveled to the front gates where she found two teenagers chatting like they were best friends.
"Hello," she greeted. "May I be of service?"

Movement coming toward her caught her eye before the boy had time to reply. Twilight’s head jerked sharply toward it, her body tensed and followed her head. Seeing the woman walk toward her, her posture relaxed to normal again. Twilight’s eyes darted to and fro on the woman, making note of details…hair color, body posture, way her footfalls landed, scent… The blond woman could never finish, but she brought her eyes up to meet the dark haired female that, presumably, came out to meet her. By the looks of it though, she had been interrupted. By her scent she appeared to be a mutant. Twilight sent a look to Darren, watching his reaction, whether it was casual, or respectful. Unfortunately, she sometimes appeared shifty eyed, but there was just so much for only two eyes to take in.
“You might.” Twilight said with a smile.
“I need to speak with the Headmaster or mistress…or just someone in charge. My request is a bit unusual.” She finished speaking, and she laced her fingers together in front of her, wondering if this woman would ask for a handshake.

"Great, here comes the wicked witch of the west," Darren thought to himself, resisting the sweet temptation to roll his eyes as Miss Wicked herself came to greet the newcomer. There were two reasons as to why he didn't like her- first, she was too arrogant-sounding for his liking. Second, he always had the slightly paranoid feeling that RE didn't trust him as much as they would other students because of his Brotherhood past. To Twilight, his eyes would point out that he didn't respect the new person in their conversation at all, didn't even like her.
Darren put on a grin, though, and looked at Rivera with the expression that had an obvious message on it, and that message was "Neener, Neener, Neener." It was a mischievous expression, one fueled by his natural dislike of the institute's "Overlord of the West", to use another Oz reference. That expression was also one of the reasons why Darren had gotten in so much trouble after Rivera took over the Institute. He turned his head back to Twilight, and this "Neener, Neener, Neener" expression vanished, being replaced by a genuine kindness that he didn't mind showing towards the new person at the institute.
Darren waited for Rivera to respond, his eyes looking towards a couple of butterflies that were crashing into a lot of flower stalks.

"The headmistress is unavailable at the moment. I am authorized in handling matters in her absence. What is your request?" Her voice was stern and unsympathetic, as if she had icicles in her blood. She didn't want to have to deal with every little nuisance who came knocking at the door. That was the problem with this school. It was incredibly inefficient. It let in every vagabond who showed up with a suitcase and a set of teary eyes. How was she ever going to get rid of the Brotherhood when the school was just a loosely connected set of adolescent former hobos?
She wasn't enjoying the evil eye she was getting from the boy next to her. It was terrible the kind of filth she had to associate with in order to execute her plans. This boy didn't even look healthy. She decided to make a mental note to have the nurse do a few check-ups to make sure the student body was alright. You never knew when they were going to flip out on you because of sleep deprivation.

The icy words failed to chill Twilight, or even damped her spirits. Her smile just widened slightly, more friendly. It was hard to get this girl down. It was plain on the woman’s face that she had no sympathy. Especially the guy beside her, disrespect all over his face. Quiet disaproval flashed over her face momentarily. In her opinion, it was a great dishonor to show such blatant respect for authority. Even if they didn’t deserve their place, they always got overthrown by the stronger…eventually. Now with humans, this overthrowing of power if so much more complicated. Drama, drama, drama. Twilight relized her thoughts were wandering, she caught herself, and continued with her request.
“Well, I was interested in possibly, boarding, temporarily or perminantly. I can work for it as well.” Twilight felt uncomfortable now with the male here. Hopefully the cold woman, who still had not intruduced herself, would lead her into a more…private… area.

Francesca raised an eyebrow. This was quite an interesting prospect. "Room and board is free, but those who show the most potential have the option of working for me. I pay well -- if you are willing to do the work, that is." She smiled, revealing a set of teeth that looked like tiny, pearl-colored daggers glinting in the pale moonlight. "This school is owned and financed by my company, Rivera Enterprises. We help make sure everything runs smoothly here. Because of that, we need a whole department of employees just to take care of the school. In fact, we're in need help from everyone, even young people like yourself." She blatantly ignored the boy. He was fairly useless to her. Even if he wanted to help, he looked to sick to do anything about it.
She reached into a diminutive pink Coach bag with a long, winding strap. "Here's my card," she said, handing a business card to the girl.

'Young people like you.' Oh how young do you think I am? Twilight thought to herslef. No, she wasn't old, but she doubted that a 'young person' would describe her anymore. The woman reminded Twilight of a smiling shark. She hoped the woman would be trustworthier than one though. Twilight also wondered, what kind of work it would be. Why not ask. Might as well. A card wouldn’t do her much good while she had her talking right here.
“Well, what kind of work would it be?” Twilight had no aversion to hard manual labor. She just hoped that it wouldn’t be ‘personal assistant’ work. Picking up dry cleaning would be a big stretch for her. Twilight played to the rules of humans hierarchy system, doesn’t mean she liked it though. This woman probably crawled her way up on the system on other people’s backs. But, what did she know. Twilight took the card, looking at it intently before looking back at Rivera , waiting for her question to be answered.

"We have openings in our administrative department. Like I said before, it takes a whole branch to run this school, and we need a multitude of employees. It would most likely be an office job. I am not sure if you are interested in such a position, but it has benefits," she replied. "We cover full health and dental."
She was glad to give petty jobs to new arrivals. It would make it much easier to get them on her side if they were on her payroll. She knew how to treat her workers well. She was, after all, a billionaire. So what if she threw a bone to a few mutants? She would the reap the benefits in the end.

Twilight was starting to feel more on the cautious/wary side, though her appearance didn’t show much of it. She doubted Rivera had a true heart in the school; only what she could glean from it. Twilight wasn’t one to associate herself with those sorts of people…but there were advantages of being on the inside.
“Can I have a day or two to think it over? I’m not an office type; I have my license to practice veterinarian medicine. Went to a college accredited by the AMVA and everything.” She added.
“And I’ve done some dog obedience classes, so those are the things I’m trained in…” Twilight let her last statement trail off, hoping that Rivera would shed some light if she had any opening for any of those things.

"Actually, we may have a job suited for your set of unique skills," replied Francesca. "We have rescued some animals that we keep on the grounds. We encourage the students interact with the animals because we think that it gives the students a social connection that will not misunderstand them nor judge them. However, we could use someone to take care of the animals. They are definitely sweet, but they cannot take care of themselves, you know." (( OOC: Short post, but I really need to get to sleep now! ))
