If nobody minds me using my role-play sample...
A foolish mutant couple with the bumper sticker "New York or Bust" climbed out of their car and strode towards the rest stop bathrooms. The man had strange purple markings around his eyes and held on to his mate protectively--or perhaps for support. She looked human, but both of them garnered glares from the others at the rest stop. As usual, Rina didn't draw much attention as she stood up casually from the nearby tables. With barely a glance at the dogwalk path off to her left, she headed for the bathrooms too. As planned, she got there after the couple, just long enough afterwards that the people around had turned from glaring at the door to gossiping with each other about the intruder. She 'accidentally' walked into the men's room. It wasn't very long before her glowing pink claws were out--then buried into the mutant's face. He shrieked in a manor that would make a normal person's knees shake, but Rina simply retracted her claws and climbed out the back window. She was already hidden in the woods before anyone even got a chance to examine the mutant's body.

Jasmine was stopping over in Canada between her flights. She had a few days to wait before she got on her next plane, so she had decided to explore. She’d found a particularly good forest when her senses went berserk. There must have been an edge to the forest near, because her body was suddenly humming with emotion. One of them was blind panic. She reacted instantly, moving toward the feeling. She stopped before she could leave the safety of the forest. She could feel someone else nearby, but she didn’t concentrate on that. She needed to calm the people who were panicked!
Her hands flew to her head and her fingertips rubbed her temples as she concentrated. Gradually, the shouting that had ensued stopped, and she was doubled over, trying to control the panic that had seized her. Amongst the general panic, was an overwhelming grief. She couldn’t believe the horror of the heartbreak as someone told the human woman that her mutant partner was dead. She felt like ripping her heart out, with double what the woman had been feeling just moments before, she curled up on the ground, holding her head and trying to keep strong as the people she had effected walked around and conversed without feelings.

(remind me where she's going? this seems kind of random)
Rina wasn't one to stick around very long after a kill, but her curiosity got the best of her when the shreiking suddenly and unexpectedly stopped. What had happened? Was the woman a mutant after all? Perhaps a healer, and maybe she'd managed to heal the man in the bathroom. Well, that was just no good.
Rina turned back, slinking through the woods quietly. But then she noticed someone else had come to enjoy the trees near the rest stop just a ways upwind of her, to her left. She couldn't see her yet, but the girl smelled like she was very upset. Maybe someone had seen her ditch the bathroom after all and had chased after her. Well, she was far enough off Rina's actual path that Rina wasn't worried about her. She moved back towards the rest stop carefully, moving away from the empath curled up in the trees. Just inside the cover of the forest, she could see people ambling around...casually. Too casually for a recent death in the bathroom, even if it was a mutant. And the girl...what was she doing? Why was she the only one upset? Time to go ask some questions.
Rina silently made a beeline for the curled up girl in the forest, crouched behind her, and then finallly spoke. "What's the matter?"

(Oops. sorry, she's on her way to the school, it's a few days between her flights- her parents booked her cheap ones. lol)
Jasmine looked up, startled as the woman crouched behind her and spoke. She hesitated for a moment, working to calm herself. She needed to wait for a minute or so before she could speak- her voice only shaking a little. "I'm- it's okay. Someone just lost their partner. It hurts." She explained in a little voice, both hands clutching her chest like her heart was going to fall out any second. "I had to help her. She was hurting so much...." She trailed off, wincing at the fresh stab of pain that sliced through her heart.

"Helped...By absorbing the emotions?" That meant the girl was a mutant. It was the only explanation that made sense given everyone's strange behavior. Rina's hands curled into fists as she casually glanced around to make sure the humans weren't looking in their direction. Being just inside the trees, they wouldn't be able to see clearly anyway, but it never hurt to check. Glowing, bright pink claws slid out from between Wild Thing's knuckles. Rina's face remained passive.

Jasmine nodded. She bit down hard on her lip until she could control her trembling. She gave the woman a tight smile, before a new emotion prodded at her. She couldn't tell what it was over the pain of the humans. She turned to look at Rina and her eyes went wide. She had to keep from letting go of the pain altogether in a slight moment of panic. She scuttled away from Rina, looking a little afraid. "What are you doing? I mean, their pretty and all, but..." She tried to reach out to Rina without letting go of her control. She needed to stay calm.

She felt Empathy's mental touch and knew she had to act quickly.
(we have a couple options here: either Wild Thing attacks and leaves Empathy for dead, which would be unimaginably painful but possible to survive, or Empathy stops her somehow using her powers. or Empathy is killed and becomes a changeling. which do you want to do?)

((Um... maybe a mixture? You could attack her and she'd get a bit hurt, but she'd have to release the emotions of the other people and try and take yours so you'd stop and be all emotionless. What do you think?))

(if she's having trouble concentrating now, she'd have no chance once she got stabbed. Rina's claws cause so much pain that getting stabbed by both sets in a sensitive place is likely to kill you)

((Nah, it's not trouble concentrating, she's used to dealing with other people's pain. She just won't want to leave the humans to fend for themselves. lol. She's soft that way))

(i'm just gonna go for it then)
Rina lunged, aiming for the head of course. Quickest way to bring down a target. If she hit anything else, the mutant girl would be lucky not to be immobilized by shear pain.

Jasmine moved to the side as Rina attacked her. She knew she needed to concentrate on not getting herself killed here, which meant she had to leave the humans to fend for themselves. Just as she let them go, the screaming and shouting started again, and she turned her total attention on Rina. Because she had moved, she felt Rina's claws slide easily through the flesh on her upper arm. She closed her eyes hard, reaching out to Rina's presence and trying to draw her emotions out. She wanted to leave innocence and happiness in her wake, but it was more likely she would just take Rina's emotions in whole.

(going to godmode just slightly on Empathy's powers; lemme know if it's a problem)
Rina felt her emotions drain. It was kind of a flicker due to the immense pain Empathy was in. It was weird feeling her emotions leave and come back, then leave altogether completely. But Rina's actions weren't hate-driven as empathy assumed, but the knowledge that mutants were a threat to humanity. As her knowledge did not disappear, neither did her will to attack. She brandished her claws a second time, this time more robotically.

(That's fine.)
Jasmine frowned in concentration, trying to stop Rina. She needed to make her stop! She scrambled backwards again. She didn't know how to protect herself physically! She looked with pleading eyes at Rina. "Please stop it! Why're you doing this?" She asked, tears in her eyes. She felt like her arm was on fire, but she just looked at Rina. She could deal with the pain.

"You're a threat to the United States of America." 'mutant' was synonymous with 'terrorist' to Rina. She went for another stab, this time not throwing her weight into it so she could course-correct immidiately if Empathy tried to move out of the way again. She went for Empathy's face so she could kill her quickly. Lots of nice little nerves there.
