Rahab was in an apartment of her own. It had taken her a while to do it, but she finally had. She was living her own life, free and independent. A smile spread across her face as she spun around in what was the middle of the living room. Of course, no humans would be able to visit her here. They would know. They would know what she was. It was kind of hard not to guess looking around at the rooms. Every inch was covered in plant life. This was the easiest way for her to live. She didn't have to worry about being without their prescence. That gave Rahab comfort.
Rahab listened to the plants. They were her friends. They told her things. No one else lived in this world. It was hers and hers alone.

A sudden rainstorm drove Danni into the apartment building. Getting past security codes was easy; just give the system enough of a jolt for it to die for a moment, then bust in. It had occured to her just how easy a life of crime would be a few times, but she just couldn't do that. She had been raised to behave. Not that breaking into a building was a good thing, but she kind of had to.
She slumped back against the wall realizing suddenly how tired she was. It wouldn't be too hard to take just a little energy from the building. She placed her hand against the wall a focused for a moment, feeling the energy flow toward her. It made her feel way more alive. Then, suddenly, everything went dark. "Crud," she muttered. At least it hadn't been her making the power go out this time. At least she didn't think so...

Rahab was startled when the light went out. She hadn't expected it or the rainstorm that seemed to be raging outside. "I'll be back," Rahab whispered to the plants. She didn't have to speak out loud to them. It had once been her habit to use thought only, but now it was just the opposite. Haivng living among humans for the past few years, she had learned to speak aloud again.
Rahab took a candle from the table in the hall and a match along with it. She wouldn't light it until she was outside of the apartment. She couldn't risk her plants. Rahab closed the door behind her and struck the match to light the candle. She needed to see if anyone had gotten disoriented in the darkness.

Danni listened carefully after the power went out, half-expecting people to come pouring out of the rooms. Surprisingly she heard only the faint noise of one door opening, and it didn't sound too near. Now she just had to decide what to do. She could give them power back, but that would take almost all the energy she had left. It wouldn't do any good for her to be left here without a means to get home.
She held her hand out and a tiny ball of yellow energy appeared above it, lighting up the area around her. It may be strange to some others, but she really didn't care if anyone here knew she was a mutant. She'd probably never see these people again. Anyway, could be lucky enough that almost no one was here, though she doubted that. Her gaze flicked to the stairs, waiting to see if anyonecame down them.

Rahab lit the cangle and held it high looking around to see if anyone was in the hall. There was no one. That didn't mean she was done though. Rahab went to the stairs and saw another light. She paused only a moment before going down the stairs and seeing a girl. "Hello," Rahab called out trying to be friendly. "Do you live around here?"

Danni spoted the light moving down the stairs more than the person. As soon as the other girl was close enough she absorbed the electricity back into her hand. "Not in the slightest," she replied, smiling slightly. "Just trying to escape the rain." She studied the other girl for a moment before deciding that she wasn't much of a threat. Not that she was hoping for a fight, it was just good to know. "I'm assuming you live here."

Rahab relaxed and smiled kindly at the girl. "Yes I do live here. Would you like to come up to my apartment. There's plenty of food there and you can dry off and maybe wait out the rain. Or if all else fails you might be able to get in touch with someone to get you back to your home."
Rahab wondered if the girl would accept her offer. She had no reason to. She didn't know Rahab. She didn't even know if she could trust Rahab. Rahab knew herself to be trustworthy, but the girl didn't. It was up to her though. This girl took her life into her own hands.
