Reading was probably pointless. Devin was in a mutant school. There was no way any respectable university would accept an applicant from a mutant school, even with that abominable Rivera witch running things. And at this bleeding heart academy, he'd never get kicked out for horrible grades as long as he said that thrown out of his house because his parents couldn't stand the fact that he was a mutant. Some people were so gullible. Indeed, it was safe to say he could go through the rest of his life without picking up a book. However, he had some integrity. Actually, that was a lie. He was just bored.
Picking up a book on mythology, he perused the pages for a while. He had a great interest in Greek mythology concerning death, especially rebirth and resurrection. He found there were many cases of such occurences, such as Adonis, Orpheus and Eurydice, and Alcestis.

Danni sat at one of the tables randomly placed around the library, her boots up on the table and her entire focus on the book in front of her. She heard the librarian approach and quickly slid her feet off the table and onto the floor in front of her. "I know," she muttered, glancing at the stacks of books on the table. As a punishment for the latest power outage she had caused - only a few rooms, but it had taken a while to fix it - she had been assigned to help out in the library until someone decided otherwise. Not too bad of a punishment, since she would be here anyway, but it did get boring with so few people in there.
"Obviously not, Danielle." She flinched at the sound of her first name, and the librarian continued. "You have to get all of these books put away, and in the right place this time." She flashed the most innocent smile she could manage up at the lady and stood. "Yes Ma'am."
Danni grabbed the smallest stack of books off the table and walked down the rows of books until she came to where they went. Fortunately, there was another person in the row reading one of the books. She had to resist the urge to jump for joy at finding another person to maybe talk to. She barely recognized him, and she was sure that was just from walking down the halls. "You know, you can check that out," she stated, grabbing the book off the top of her pile and sliding it back in it's place on the shelf. At least she could say she was working while talking.

Devin was thoroughly entranced by passage about the bloody murder of Orpheus by savage, enraged women when he found himself rudely interrupted by a girl he didn't recognize.
"Yes, I could do that, or I could completely ignore you and continue to sit on my pale, bony little buttocks," he replied. He turned back to his reading. He really did not enjoy being pestered. These library employees are getting more and more asinine every year, he thought to himself.
Looking at the story of Orpheus and Eurydice, he wondered if the Greeks knew about mutants. Eurydice was almost brought back to life by Orpheus until his curiosity caused her to be sent back to the Underworld. Devin wondered if there were any other mutants with his power, if he was the only one with the gift of bringing back the dead to life.

Danni smiled to herself, completely undisturbed by his attitude. She would have probably had a similair reaction if someone had interrupted her reading. Okay, so she would have forced herself to be nicer, but she could at least see where he was coming from. Still, he was the only non-teacher she had seen in here all day, and she was rather bored.
"Well, ain't you just a ray of sunshine," she remarked, sliding a few more books into place until she had put away almost all of them. Then she shifted her gaze to him and bit her lip. Somehow she didn't expect someone like him to have been reading mythology, but who was she to judge. He could read whatever he wanted, so long as he put the book back when he was done.
"That was supposed to be a hint for you to move your ugly bony little butt out of the way so I can finish this crap up," she said, gesturing with the book toward the shelf behind him. It wasn't normally her nature to be rude, but he was just asking for it. It's not like it was a lie anyway, at least not as far as she saw it. "Or you could do somethin' useful and put them away yourself."

"I could, but that would require that I not be an asshole." It was true that Devin could have used more tact, but she was just asking for that line. It wasn't in his nature to be polite. However, despite the malicious comment, he silently closed his book and put it neatly on the bookshelf where he had found it. Afterwards, he began to place the other books on the shelves.
Ever since RE had taken over, Devin had resented the rich elite even more than usual. He couldn't stand all the men and women running around in business suits and ties, clicking away at the blackberries in their hands, while everyone else had suffer all the changes that that foul Rivera harpie woman kept demanding. He bet that this girl was another victim of Rivera or her underling's orders, so he had some sympathy for her.

Danni opened her mouth for a reponse, then immediately snapped it shut. It seemed he wasn't as rude as he first appeared to be. She hadn't actually intended for him to help her, but she certainly wasn't going to complain now. The more people working the faster it all got done and the sooner she could find something more interesting to do than put the books away. Maybe read one instead, or catch up on the classwork she had fallen behind on.
Sliding a book back into the shelf, she struggled with the urge to apologize. She shouldn't have been so rude, no matter whether he deserved it or not. It had been a struggle to remember her manners lately, with all these new creeps running around and ordering them around like the students lived to serve them. She missed when Professor Xavier ran the school. Things had been so much nicer and easier. "I'm Danni," she finally said, figuring it couldn't hurt to introduce herself. Besides, the quiet was always something that bothered her.
