Jack entered the class with his briefcase in hand. He straightened his blazer as he stood in front of the class looking at the chatting and laughing Teenagers. "Hey Class." He called in his New Yorker's voice. "How about everyone shuts up and learns something, huh?" He joked. Most of them laughed, a few however, kept talking. Jack was in front of them in two seconds. "Oh I know!" He leaned over the desk, wide eyed, jaw down. "I mean, I can't believe she wore that." He said his fake california girl mocking voice. "Oh my god, you're so right, he could do sooo much better." He smiled at them with a pearly white grin. "Mind listening to what the teacher wants to teach you instead of yapping like scotty dogs?" He stepped back, the rest of the class continued to laugh. Jack was behind his desk as quick as he had been in front of the girls.
"Well anyone who's listening." Jack stood with his left side to them, he wrote memory on the board. "Surely someone has a memory of something when they were a small child... anything, a dog, a tv show." Jack began to pace the class room. "Memories are easy to trigger and hard to get over." Jack spoke clearly. "Name somethings that can trigger memories." He looked over the faces, many of different age, with different powers.

A very brief, so brief in fact it was barely noticable except to those with superfast perception, spacial rift opened up in the classroom above one of the chairs. Along with the rift, came a short burst of heat that filled the room as Darren fell a couple inches out of the air into his seat. He had just made it to class as the teacher walked in, and would be rather annoyed if the teacher actually tried to pin him on it. He was just as on time as King was. So as he sat there, he leaned back in his chair and folded his arms, putting one leg on the desk in front of him as the teacher mocked the girls in front of the room. Darrens seat was in the back.
He listened half heartedly as King began his lecture, and was eager to throw his two cent in at any opportunity, such as the one that presented itself when King asked the students a question. Darren didn't bother to raise his hand when he answered. "Smells." Darren said, off to a good impression with the teacher with a correct answer. That was until he added his 'two cents'. "Kind of like the cheap cologne you're wearing, hoping it will impress the mutant ladies of the staff."

Matt was in the classroom, bored out of his mind. He'd already graduated normal high school, so he was bumming around in the class. When the topic of memories came and the class was asked to present some ideas, Matt thought and said, "Abilties..." Matt said as he thought of his brother, Lucas. How his ability was just like his father's.

"That's not me." Jack replied, he'd never worn cologne in his life. "Smells is correct. Aren't you smart?" Jack replied sarcastically, great another hot shot. He looked to Matt. "Abilities, anyone got anything else?"

"Must be a natural odor then." Darren said, sniffing the air. A few other guys in the back laughed lightly. He took his foot off the desk and set it down on the floor, straightening his back and putting his elbows on the desk instead, leaning forward. "Oh! I have another one. Sarcastic teachers." He said, grinning lightly.
"Kind of reminds me of high school substitute teachers who couldn't make it in the real world when they were found out to be a freak. Then, in desperation, went on to be 'special ed' teachers with an attitude."

"Having kids who act like they should be in special ed helps, eh?" He smiled at Impulse. "Attitudes, is another good reminder." Jack put his hands in his pockets. "Use to beat the hell out of kid that acted just like you, kid." Jack looked at Darren. "So who ya callin' Freak, freak?" most of the class was now either staring in disbelief or chuckling.

"Hey! There's no need to call anyone a freak! I mean, we all have abilities here. We should be together, united as one. Not fighting against each other because one cocky guy is pittng against another." Matt said, getting angry about the dispute. He hated when people fighted, especially over something stupid like that.

"You're right kid." Jack replied, looking at Matt. "We all have abilities... everyone here is different yet all the same." Jack smiled again. "Just please try to word it so you don't sound like an after school special next time, huh?" Jack looked at Darren. "Whether you like it or not, both of us have the mutations. Anything you call me can be said about you too. Except maybe that substitute teacher comment. You probably wouldn't have the patience." He returned to the other students. "Now we come back to the real discussion, memories." Jack returned to the class with his full attention on them.
"Another trigger is words." Jack jumped up and sat on his desk. "Here's an example, when I saw the word, needle what do you see?"

"Myself..." Matt replied, reffering to the drug addiction that he has suffered through the majority of his teenage life. He knew now that he was better off without them, and that his latest addiction to the painkillers was over. But he still feared them. Feared himself and his habits.

"Had some problems in the past eh?" Jack asked quietly. Not about to embarass the boy in front of all the people in the class. "How about the word, blue?"

"Water." Matt said as he sent a telepathic message to the teacher, saying, Drug Addiction. Narcotics. Mainly painkillers. I'm still in the recovering stages.
He then looked around to everyone else in the class, most doing their own thing. He then looked back to the teacher.

Jack simply nodded to Matt. "no one else is answer." He looked around disappointed in the class. "The sky," he answered his own question, "the color of my brother's t-shirt the last time I saw him, My mother's favorite dish." He rested his hands in his lap. "My father's eyes." he said with little in his voice but words. "Word and smells, the memories are all different... why do we store memories? Does anyone know?"

"There's no real answer. I guess it's just depends on what the person wants it to be. Some people use it for guidance. Others for knowledge." Matt said, really taking a shine to this class. He smiled as he made his answer, knowing that for once, he wasn't the kid that just shut up in the class.

"Correct." Jack smiled, "We sort out what we like and keep what we think is useful. Somethings stick with us, even if we don't want them to." Jack looked at the entire class. "For existance... a moment I would have loved to forget. I scared me so much." He stood again. "I was sleeping at the time and i was just having the worse dream ever." He began to pace. "I woke startled when." He lifted his arm which had vanished. "Ah!" he faked a scream. Some students jumped.

Matt's eyes widen as the teacher made his arm disappear. "Please, you try getting up one morning and realise that you can absorb abilities from other people. That you can heal," Matt said as he adjusted himself in the seat, "Teleport, control the elements. Living in fear of absorbing unstable powers." Matt said as his expression darkened.
